FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATE
RECIPIENT OF WEST CHESTER AREA SENIOR CENTER’S
2008 MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD NAMED
The Board of Directors of the West Chester Area Senior Center (WCASC) recently announced the 2008 recipient of the Center’s prestigious Meritorious Service Award to be presented at the agency’s Eighth Annual Gala and Silent Auction, Saturday, November 1st at the West Chester Area Senior Center.
This year’s Meritorious Service Award recipient is John Ciccarone in recognition of the significant support, advocacy, and assistance he has generously given the Senior Center. Mr. Ciccarone took a leadership role in the Senior Center’s capital campaign, The Campaign for the Future, which exceeded its $1.5 million goal in 2006 to make the current location on 530 East Union Street possible. He served as Campaign Co-Chair with Jim McErlane, contributing countless hours to help make the campaign a success. After the campaign, Mr. Ciccarone continued his involvement with the Center by welcoming the Senior Center’s Second Reading II bookstore at the Parkway Center on High Street in West Chester.
Ciccarone is a real estate developer and owner of a variety of shopping centers, hotels, residential subdivisions and medical office buildings throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Florida. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank, and is also active in advisory capacities at West Chester University and Chester County Hospital.
In addition to the award ceremony honoring John Ciccarone, there will be a silent and live auction featuring a wide array of gifts and services. A cash drawing will be part of the evening’s activities as well.
For more information about the gala, please call the Center at 610-431-4242. Gala invitations will be available in September. The gala cost is $90 per person.
The West Chester Area Senior Center, founded in 1975, is committed to enriching the lives of seniors, ages 60 and older, by providing a variety of educational and recreational programs and activities, nutritional meals, health screenings, and opportunities for social interaction.
